  2. IASI to acquire new data for weather forecasting

    Europe’s weather forecasting system is set to benefit soon from a new series of spacecraft, with the 1st of the MetOp satellites set for launch on 17 July. Its payload includes IASI1, an instrument developed by CNES that will acquire highly accurate vertical profiles of the atmosphere for the 1st time.

  3. IASI signals a change in weather forecasting

    This July, a Soyuz launcher will orbit the 1st of 3 European MetOp1 weather satellites. MetOp-A will be carrying the IASI2 instrument developed by CNES in partnership with Eumetsat3 to bring meteorologists new atmospheric measurements of unmatched quality. The satellite is now preparing to leave EADS Astrium’s facility in Toulouse, France, for its launch site.

  4. IASI ready for the lift-off

    The big day is fast approaching for IASI! After 3 abortive attempts in July, the launch of the MetOp satellite carrying the IASI instrument is now all set for 7 October. The Soyuz launcher and its payload are undergoing final preparations before lift-off.

  5. First light from IASI

    After 3 weeks in decontamination, the IASI instrument was activated yesterday and is now in pre-operational mode. The first image and first atmospheric spectra obtained suggest the instrument is functioning correctly.
